What The Plum Tree Spoke

What the plum tree spoke
Same as what it seemed to evoke

Meanings into my meanderings
When climbing her prickly branches that day

The same day she filtered the sun through her ancient wrinkled twigs
Wearing her ageless, illuminated leaves

The deep textures displayed themselves as new selves
Appearing through the lush flickering of possibilities

While the ants scurried across their highways
Leading to new pathways

Where the many seemed as one
Dancing effortlessly in the breeze and sun

Risking it all the for the perfect moment
To surrender to nature’s course of action

That appeared shiny and new
Delicate and vulnerable

The same day her pregnant fruit begged to be recognized
Longing for my hands to reach its soft and subtle skin

Plump and juicy, ready to burst
Some anxiously dropping with the whisper of my breath

Some squishing and oozing between my toes
Never knowing the softness of my fingertips

So dangle as you might
Some of you in plain sight

Others elusively unseen
In this gleaner’s dream

The same day, if I had nothing to say
Because of watching the divine so well hung and displayed

I'd still be cradled in her neglected and shriveled old branches

Suspended with the harvest that I covet
Sitting with the stillness of that moment

Listening to the silence of what the plum tree spoke

A Rabbit’s Soliloquy

I cannot be contained
I cannot be controlled
I cannot be possessed
I cannot be pulled

You may sit with me
Talk to me
Feed me
Play with me

We may wander in the garden together
We may ponder the weeds beneath OUR lucky feet

I may memorize you.
I may charm you
I may destroy all your beliefs
I may hurt you

You may bleed
You may ooze
You may feel confused
You may shed every fiber from your past within you

I am as elusive as the worms tunneling beneath the hidden layers
….as elegant as the trees and sky hovering above them
….as impermanent as the twinkling stars that YOU perceive
….as transparent as the moonlight flickering through the leaves

I may nuzzle you
I may bow down to you
I may sit at your feet
You may try catching me

But I flow like the wind
I blaze through your fires
I float down your streams
I solidify your desires

Watch me
Be me
But never...never cage me

Love Drops

love drops down with a splat
then I know it's all about that!

tremors of disappointment encourage the swell
prompted by memories of places I no longer dwell

like a furious ocean wave
I try to hold you from crashing down

resisting the urge to let you go
hurts the inevitable irresistible flow

down in the abyss you begin your journey
elements merge to forge the path of learning

triggers open the channels for you to grow
reactions upon reactions build you from my ego

pushing you to the edge of the brink
where you will only live briefly until the blink

the climax forces you out of your duct
removing you from your comfy little rut

where you have waited an eternity for this day
to appear for your pilgrimage in this way

salty and wet you release down my cheek
then take the riskiest leap off my chin into the deep

all of you silently transform  with  gravity
into that perfect transparent shape no matter what the tragedy

the angels saw you coming and guided you until you stopped
to savor the sweet treasures in your one precious  tear drop
